What's a MERV rating & why does it matter?
I am MERV, the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value system that evaluates air filters and their effectiveness catching a variety of particles and pollutants. When it comes to air quality, they say the higher the MERV rating the better the filter, and the better you breathe. With a range from 1 to 20, MERVs start basic at a 1 and from there escalate efficiency. Ideally, you’ll find MERV 16 through 20 at hospitals, nuclear power plants, and other intense situations worthy of an action film! But when it comes to your home or office, you are likely looking for a MERV between 5 and 13.
